Hello, does anyone have any first hand experiences of how they have managed to get GPS tracking for their exercise workout (walk, run, bike etc) to work properly on their Galaxy Watch whether it be a 4,5,6 or 7 version?

On my Galaxy Watch 6 (bluetooth version) it keeps on saying "GPS still connecting" without getting an actual GPS fix. The GPS tracking works if you start the exercise workout on your phone but not when you start it directly from your watch.

Know there is a lot of "fixes" online in terms of location accuracy (i.e. use precise location) , powering off watch and phone, resetting watch etc, but am interested if someone has actually found success in any workaround. Thanks

I have the exact same problem with the galaxy watch 5 Pro. I found that it's a Samsung health issue specifically, when I use the Strava app it locks on almost instantly like it used to do with Samsung health. This is something they really need to look into because it's been driving me up the wall.

Very nearly considered buying a Garmin after work today just because I was sick of it. It's been happening for almost 3 months now and I run very regularly, each time it takes 15 to 20 minutes to connect. I would start connecting to the GPS when I started warming up, And then end up sitting around after finishing my warm-up waiting for it to connect. I just gave up today and went with Strava. Only problem is the data from the Strava app is significantly limited because I'm not a premium member.

Samsung you need to fix this because clearly it's a significant problem for almost everyone who uses your hardware.

Actually WR99, I solved my GPS fix issue by buying a Galaxy 6 (non classic) LTE version, 44 mm size upgrading from my Galaxy 6 (non classic) BT only, 40mm version.

I get instant GPS fixes using Samsung Health App (don't need Strava) and the 44mm version has so much better battery life especially using One UI Watch 6 os upgrade.👍

Don't know why LTE version makes it easier for GPS fixes compared to Bluetooth version but it did. No more frustration :)

Did you need to get a dedicated e-sim for the LTE version or just being an LTE version fixed the GPS issues? I appreciate the reply though!!

Funnily enough I think it does use an eSim (through Telstra) as that's what my S23U (paired with Galaxy 6 LTE watch) uses. I use the physical sim slot for a UK pre-paid mobile service when I travel to UK.

Yeah fair enough... Unfortunately I'm probably not in the position to buy a new watch but will definitely keep that in mind for future!! Hopefully they come up with some patch for Samsung health...

Fair comment, I was lucky that I managed to get one for $349 from JB Hifi on a Black Friday Sale, but you don't normally get those sort deals outside of Black Friday.
