Hi there,

Just upgraded to Samsung A71, the camera takes a picture way darker than the actual lighting. Also the videos come out burry and very poor quality. I have tried adjusting the live focus in the camera settings but it doesn't do anything. Is this normal?

Hi @Jrose,

Please check if there is any update available for the camera app and update the camera app and check.

Also, Try to Clear the cache and data of the camera app. Follow the below steps:

Open Settings >> Apps >> Tap the 3 Dots at the top of the page >> Select Show System Apps >> Camera >> Tap Storage >> Tap on clear Cache and clear Data.
Note: Clearing the data will reset the app to factory default settings. Any personal settings saved on the app will be removed.

If the issue is still there please try to reset camera settings and get back to us with the result.

Follow the below steps:

Open Camera app >> Then, click on Settings >> Select Reset Settings >> Confirm your decision by tapping on RESET. Now restart the phone and check.

Note: Reset Camera settings will only reset the settings for the camera application. It will not impact the settings for the Galaxy Camera operating system and it will not remove any of your personal information from the camera.

Hi Kinsley,

Just following up on this. This is a brand new phone. I did update the Snapchat app. Also, I followed all of your instructions but there is no change. The Snapchat videos are absolutely terrible. Let me know how I can send you one as an example. Thank you.

Hi @Jrose,

Are you taking pictures and videos directly with the Snapchat camera?

Try to Clear the cache and data of the Snapchat app. Follow the below steps:

Open Settings >> Apps >> Snapchat >> Tap Storage >> Tap on Clear Cache.
then restart the device if that did not fix the issue then try to Clear Data of the Snapchat app.
Note: Clearing the data will reset the app to factory default settings. Any personal settings saved on the app will be removed. let us know if that fixes the issue.

Hi, Kingsley!

I have been experiencing the same problem too, and I just bought my phone 2 days ago and started using it yesterday. I recently noticed that the vottom half of the screen is blurred, but the upper half is clear, but only on video (on Snapchat). If i only take a picture, then some areas are in focus, but not the subject that I want in focus. And usually pics are clear only when flash is on, both in day and night. I want to share the video i took on Snapchat to show you what i mean. The subject that I took a video of is just a sceen. The half and half effect was only  noticable when taking a shot/video of the screen.

I hope this video may help you guys at Samsung to figure out and hopefully solve this issue!

(This might be a second post of the same video because it did not seem like the video uploaded the first time. I'm just uploading it to be sure that I did it correctly.)

Hey Kingsley

Im having the same issue in my Samsung a71 that I purchased yesterday. I'm so confused as to why my Snapchat camera is so pixilated and weird looking. My normal camera is really good and serves no issues but Snapchat does for some reason. Is there a way this can be fixed?

Here is a screen recording of Snapchat camera.

Just click pics on the default app and upload it to Snapchat from the camera roll, you will lose some filters but the picture will look much better. Snapchat uses one type of code for all android devices except some premium ones like Galaxy S.
