Ever since a recent forced update to One UI 2.5, Android 10, my phone dies overnight several times per week. Latest example phone was charged 100% before going to bed, this morning it was completely off. Had to press and hold power and volume down for 15 seconds to get it to boot up. Battery showed 54%.

Prior to the update, phone was rock solid, no issues, battery lasted three days as I am not a heavy user.

Model: SM-A705W. 2-3 years old.

I have cleared cache and factory reset with no improvement. Battery usage doesn't show any apps with unusual amounts.

Hey Roxus,
As you have performed the factory reset of the device, we suggest you to verify your phone in safe mode for 24 hours to diagnose the issue exactly if the third-party apps cause the issue or the phone. Then, get back to us with the results.
Safe mode to check if added apps are causing problems. This mode only loads basic system software and allows you to disable third-party applications.
1. After turning off the device, turn it on.
2. Once the Samsung logo has started, press and hold the volume down button.
3. When the home screen appears, the safe mode is displayed in the lower-left corner of the screen.
Keep your device in safe mode for 24 hours.
How to deactivate safe mode.
1. Press and hold the power button.
2. Tap Restart.

Hi Halston,
Thanks for those instructions. I should have mentioned that I ran the phone for two days in Safe Mode. It did crash/shutdown during that test.
Have you heard of this particular issue being tied to a Samsung or Android update?
Also, is it possible or a good idea to flash the phone's firmware back to factory default via Samsung Smart Switch?

Hey Roxus,
Thanks for your reply. Please note that Samsung recommends to keep the devices up to date and not recommended flashing the device as it may cause misbehavior of the device.

Please follow the steps below and check if it works fine.
Go to Settings > Device Care > Tap on three dots in the top right corner> Select Auto Restart and turn it off if it is on.

Hi Halston,
I have made your suggested change. Auto Restart was enabled previously and I have now disabled it.
My steps were slightly different:
Go to Settings > Device Care > Tap on three dots in the top right corner> Advanced > Select Auto Restart and turn it off if it is on.

Hi Halston,
Will advise if this works. Sometimes it takes a couple of days before it crashes overnight. So far so good last night no issues.

Good morning Halston,
Last night the phone had 60% charge before bed. This morning is was completely powered off and has 20% charge. Something is using a lot of power overnight to cause this crash. In Device care, under Battery, I don't see any Apps using more than 1%. Could it be the Android system causing the problem? Any way to force the next UI 3.0 update which is not on my A70 yet but I see it's on the list of eligible phones.
Back to the charger.
