Just go into Messages settings Pick a Contact - Notification - Custom 😉🐧

Download an app called Zedge from the app store. It has thousands of ringtones and notification tones. It will even set the tone you choose up as well

I had custom sms ringtones that I wanted to add to their small selection. After spending more than an hour with Samsung tech support they told me that that feature had been removed in the oreo update but it may be reintroduced in a future update.
