Hi everyone,

I work at an Office/Telecoms store in SA and have had quite a few customers come in today with the same issue - their A51 (and one with an A32) updated the software in the past day and now doesn't turn on or operate.
I have tried the usual soft reset etc. with no luck. The only solution is to factory reset the phone.

I wanted to see if there was any other way around this, as many people seem to have this issue and don't want to lose all their data over a standard update.

Any help is much appreciated.

Thanks

I couldn't get my browser to copy paste properly. For an October 2021 solution Google "Galaxy A51 new software update problems"
Often updates can affect stored cache data, so the solution is to clear app caches selectively but with the risk passwords, etc may be deleted.
Updates sometimes refuse to update for a particular app and get in a loop, if identified force stop the app, uses a hell of a lot of battery!!!
Another is to open in safe mòde and add back apps until you find what is interfering
Googling often has more answers than Samsung Members.
Really, really grateful to Potatoes4 for raising this.

If you're familiar with booting into recovery mode, you could try wiping the cache partition.

@Troubadour this seems to be a problematic OTA, seemingly confined to SA, which recently rolled out.
But I'm sure you've heard/read about it by now.

Edit: @Potatoes4Lyfe are you a Telstra dealer by chance?
