Text Messages; is Broadcast channels required to be " on " for the app to work?

Broadcast Channels do not need to be turned on for the text messaging app to work on your device. Broadcast Channels are typically used for emergency alerts or public notifications. They are separate from your regular text messaging functions and are not required for sending or receiving standard SMS or MMS messages.
