Hello,

Today, I woke up to my phone (Galaxy A72) not being able to connect to my service provider (circle with a diagonal line going through it) so I can't make any calls or texts and my mobile data won't turn on either. I saw that my airplane mode was on but I was connected to the WiFi and the Bluetooth works as well. I tried to turn the airplane mode off but it doesn't turn off (the symbol is dimly lit unlike the other symbols). However, when I go into settings, airplane mode is off.

When I take out my SIM card that's when airplane mode turns off. I tried putting my SIM in another phone and it works on there and I tried putting another SIM in my phone and the same issue occurs. I tried googling this issue and I found many people who had this problem with previous updates. I tried all the "solutions" that were provided except factory rest like resetting my network settings, clearing the cache, rebooting my phone, etc. I even went into safe mode and this problem was still there.

The reason I say this is related to the UI 6.1 update is because this same issue happened when the update happened a week ago however, it resolved it self within a couple of minutes. Then, it happened again yesterday and it was resolved again. However, today, this has been going on since I woke up at 7 am and hasn't resolved.

Any help would be appreciated! I am attaching a screenshot for reference.

Hi Anne2q, we are sad to hear that your'e having issue with the stuck airplane mode and we appreciate your efforts in trying all the possible trouble shooting steps to resolve the problem.

As you have tried everything unfortunately nothing works, then as a last resort please perform back up and factory data reset on your device and try if it solves the issue.

Thank you.

I know the feels man.. had the same *** 3 times on my a72. 1st time had no idea why it happened and issue resolved itself within an hour. 2nd time it happened it was with a previous update and I sent the phone into a local repair shop and they could not fix it. Tried everything i could find on the internet but could not fix it. I removed the sim and used my a72 for online use only. 3 weeks later I was busy on the a72 one night and my screen looked like it just became more clear(brighter) so i decided to try my sim again and it worked. I disabled my auto update and had no problems since then. Saw the 6.1 update and was afraid to update but today i decided to update and confirm that it was indeed these *** updates messing with the phone. Now im back to online use without the sim for a few weeks. *** you Samsung

At long last I got a fix for my A72 stuck on airolane mode and its such a stupid A72 bug. Just go to this screen edit it and deselect the airplane icon replace it with another icon. Shut phone down for 1min and turn on. All sorted

Bruh, if your Samsung is stuck in airplane mode and nothing’s working, this guide might actually save you from chucking your phone at the wall. It’s not one of those generic “turn it off and on” type of fixes—it actually goes deep into what’s causing the issue and how to get your phone back to normal.

They lay out the steps in a way that actually makes sense, and it covers all the weird quirks that could be messing with your network settings. Plus, no tech jargon overload—just straight-up fixes that work.
