Hi Samsung Community,

I'm experiencing a serious issue with my Galaxy Book4 Edge 16" (1TB model) after a recent BIOS update. After installing the update, Windows 11 no longer detects the battery — it shows as if there's no battery installed, even though the laptop runs when plugged in. The charging icon is missing, and the system does not recognize or charge the battery at all.

I contacted Samsung technical support, but all they recommended was a laptop reset. I’ve already tried that along with the following steps:

  • Resetting BIOS settings to default
  • Uninstalling and reinstalling the battery drivers from Device Manager
  • Performing a complete shutdown and static discharge

None of these steps resolved the issue, and it’s very clear this started immediately after the BIOS update — which strongly points to a firmware-level issue that cannot be resolved through basic troubleshooting.

I’m not alone in facing this. Others have reported the same issue on Reddit:
🔗Reddit Post – Windows not detecting battery despite running on power

It seems the latest BIOS update may have broken battery communication or detection at the firmware level.

Key Details:

  • Device: Galaxy Book4 Edge 16" 1TB
  • OS: Windows 11
  • Issue: Battery not detected or charging after BIOS update
  • Attempted Fixes: Reset, BIOS reset, driver reinstall, static discharge — all failed

This is a critical issue that needs urgent attention from Samsung's engineering team. A firmware rollback or updated BIOS fix is likely required.

Please escalate this issue. If anyone else is experiencing this, I encourage you to reply and share your details so Samsung can see how widespread this is.

-- Update--

Thank you to the Samsung team for resolving the issue. For anyone still experiencing problems, please update your BIOS—the fix has been implemented.

Hey @samsung Let's get this fixed. You guys have better testing than this. No way it should've slipped by.

I'm having the same problem and I'm honestly furious no action has been taken my Samsung/Microsoft yet!!!

Also, am I the only one who seems to not be able to detect USB-C devices anymore, including things like Ethernet to USB-C adaptors?

I've got the same thing as all users. After installing this update my USB C doesn't work, AND my battery indicator is gone in Windows. I've found no way to roll this update back as its a BIOS update and I can't find a way to manually flash it.
Please get this fixed as I can't use my laptop with external displays right now without using HDMI (I have a USB C dock)

I'm having the exact same problem and honestly, it's frustrating that Samsung/Microsoft still haven't addressed this issue properly.

Not only are USB-C devices like Ethernet adapters no longer being detected, but none of the USB ports are working reliably anymore.

For example, I use an external USB sound card plugged into the regular USB port (right side). It doesn't get detected if I just plug it in normally. The only way I can get it to work is if I first plug in the sound card, then connect the charger via USB-C, and then restart the laptop. Only after that it shows up. But if I unplug it and replug it while the laptop is on, it won’t detect it again—forcing me to restart every single time. This is unacceptable and completely breaks workflow.

To make things worse, I recently discovered that my Bluetooth headphone microphone also no longer works. The headphones connect for audio, but the mic isn't detected at all.

This seems like a serious firmware or driver-level issue affecting core functionality, and we really need a proper update or fix. Please escalate this.

I strongly urge the Samsung firmware and BIOS development team to consider releasing the last known stable BIOS version—with a new, updated version number. This would allow users to roll back to a functioning configuration without triggering BIOS version mismatch or downgrade protection mechanisms. At the same time, your team can continue to investigate and resolve the problems in the current BIOS release without leaving affected users without a workaround.

These issues appear to be firmware-related rather than driver-level, and restoring access to older BIOS builds could offer an immediate solution for many users while your team works toward a stable, bug-free update.

I've also seen this exact issue.  The device reports having no battery when asking for a powercfg battery report, and it is a huge problem.

Hi I have the Samsung book 4 edge 16inch screen with 1TB I have have the same issue the battery icon has gone and It states no battery present, I'm unable to see the what status of the charge I have left, I even down loaded a Battery icon of Microsoft store but I get the same issue no battery detected, its very frustrating I thought it was a Windows Problem, but looking at the comments its a Samsung issue since a update.  This needs to be sorted ASAP. These Laptops cost £1600 to buy and yet the software screws them up.  I would appreciate any help.
