Hello everyone,

I'm writing to report an issue that has suddenly appeared with my Samsung Galaxy Book4 Edge (16" / NP960XMB) and my external monitor, and to seek a solution.

Summary: My portable monitor, an LG Gram +view which gets both power and video through a single USB-C cable, worked perfectly with my Galaxy Book4 Edge for several weeks. About 4 days ago, it stopped working. Now, when I connect the monitor, it receives power (the power indicator light turns on), but it gets no video signal and the laptop does not detect any external display.

I have performed the following tests without success:

  1. Monitor and Cable Confirmation: I have connected the LG monitor and the exact same cable to another (non-Samsung) laptop, and they work perfectly

  2. Port Testing: I have tested the connection on both USB-C ports of my Galaxy Book4 Edge, with the same negative result on both.

  3. Software Updates: I have searched for and installed all available updates through Windows Update

  4. Samsung Updates: I have used the Samsung Update application to ensure everything is up to date

  5. Manual Detection: I have tried to force display detection in Windows settings (Settings > System > Display > Detect) with no result.

Given that this setup was working perfectly and suddenly stopped, I suspect that the problem may have been introduced by a recent software or firmware update, causing a compatibility bug or a regression.

I would like to know if the Samsung support team is aware of this type of issue on the Book4 Edge. Is there a temporary workaround, or is a patch planned for a future firmware/driver update?

Thank you in advance for any help or information you can provide.

Best regards.

It happened after a BIOS update from Samsung. I also posted other issues here https://r1.community.samsung.com/t5/galaxy-books/battery-not-detected-on-galaxy-book4-edge-16-quot-a...

Hi,

Thanks for the detailed info. Since the monitor powers on but no video is detected, this may be due to a recent driver or firmware issue.

Please report it via Samsung Members > Support > Error reports so the team can investigate. We’ll also share your feedback internally. Appreciate you bringing this to our attention!

Today I received my Book4 and I was finishing installing all the sw packages and had my port replicator up and running. Also the connected external monitor through the port replicator did function perfectly. Then after a some hours the machine installed a windows update and also a firmware update. Now I can still use my mouse and keyboard through the port replicator but the network and the connected monitor are gone.
What a sad end of the day.
I don't understand how a QS can pass such an update. Hope the next update will be within the next days.

I just got back from lunch and woke my Book 4 from standby mode. My second screen was mirrored. It looked strange, so I unplugged the HDMI monitor from the computer and couldn't believe my eyes. The monitor was still connected via the port replicator and was signaling again via USB-C.
Everything is working fine at the moment. I couldn't detect any updates myself.

I disconnected the Port Replicator from USB-C and after an hour reconnected it. The Monitor didn't function again.
I then did set the notebook to Standy and then powered it on again. The monitor was again recognized and did function again. So when recovering from Standby the notebook does something with the USB-C port that a simple reconnect doesn't.

I have been experiencing the same issue since the BIOS update. The second monitor will work when connected to my phone now and other devices but not my laptop.

I have a similar issue. Got a KVM USB C switch connected to a monitor. It works fine if I turn on the laptop with KVM switch set to the Galaxybook. But if I switch to my other laptop and try to switch back it won't work. Fix is to completely disconnect the USB C cable and connect again.
