Galaxy Books
Hi,
I've been a member of this community for a while but never thought I'd need to post, but here we are.
I've owned the galaxybook Flex for a year and a half and have never been so disappointed in my life.
When the Galaxybook flex 15 inch first came out, I knew I had to buy it, it seemed like the perfect laptop for university. A 2 in 1 laptop that also had really good specs would be perfect for CS and Mathematics. Little did I know the amount of trouble this laptop was going to give me.
For the first year, until right around the time the warranty ran out, the laptop was gem, and it was able to do everything without an issue. Right after that 1 year mark, the laptop would randomly start shutting down in its sleep. This was the least of my issues, it would randomly start running the fan on max and overheating so it would run like this (while i thought the laptop was asleep) till the battery ran out. This was horrible for me as a university student who needed to rely on the laptop for all my classes. I never thought I would need to worry that much about my computer working.
Through months of googling, trying every single troubleshooting step I could think of, I recently found out that it was some sort of issue with the fingerprint reader and the easiest solution would be to disable the reader. So much for a all in one laptop costing well over two thousand canadian.
During this time, samsung support was useless. They didn't have any sort of support for this issue even though there was a lot of users with the issue. All they could ever tell me was your laptop is out of warranty, go to one of our third party service centres, good luck.
Right as I found the solution to disable the finger print reader and just learn to live with it, my screen started to pop out of its chassis as i would close and open the laptop right at its hinge.
I called samsung and I got the same, youre out of warranty contact repair, good luck. I was then quoted over $600 for the repair for a laptop I already spent a fortune on.
I'm not even sure what I should do at this point, if i was to spend $600 on this laptop, will that be the end of my issues, or should I keep expecting to fork over money for issues that I didn't even cause.
I've lost all love for samsung and honestly I think they've lost a customer. I will try to find a solution for this laptop and try to use it for a while, at least to get my moneys worth but I am disappointed with the company.
For any people considering this laptop, DO NOT!!!
I was once in love with this laptop but after a while when it starts to fall to pieces you will regret buying it.
