Galaxy NoteThis has now happened twice to me - the last time was last night (7/27/20). Prior to that it was . Strangely, both times it happened was when the phone was locked in my pocket on a mountain bike ride. I have passcode or fingerprint enabled. Is it possible that some combination of key presses or screen input would cause a factory reset to occur? This is really frustrating.

Galaxy NoteThis has happened twice. Almost happened a third. This is what happens. I answered a call using a headset. This turned on the screen ( or maybe I hit the button that turns on the screen). All that is needed is a swipe to go to the pin login screen. Pretty easy if you are working and getting up and down off the floor (remodeling bathroom). At this point all it takes is for your pocket to push enough buttons to attempt 17 failed logins. This is even easier if you have set your login to not require the ok button to finish the login. I pulled my phone out and the screen message indicated I had 14 failed login attempts. 3 more and a factory reset would be done. Mystery solved. Now I just need to figure out how to keep screen from turning on in my pocket. There is a setting for that. Maybe they have already figured this out.

Galaxy NoteHi AZTim,
Blocked accidental touches prevent the screen from detecting touch input while your Mobile Device is in a dark place such as a pocket or bag.
Please follow the steps below on your phone and check if it works fine.
Go to Settings> Tap Display> To activate the feature, swipe the switch on Block accidental touches to the right.
