Samsung notes would have to be the worst app available, the S6 edge plus had Memo and if you wrote something it would automatically save it, I wrote a song today and I was changing the title, and my whole song bar the title disappeared, so now I've lost it for ever, Samsung fix this dumb app, surely with Ai these days you could get it right.

Check the samsung notes recycle bin if its there

I did, but it's not there. If you don't swipe left at the top, it won't automatically save files. It's ridiculous on Samsung's part.
I've had problems with my phone before, and given Samsung access, and I myself finally fixed it on a number of occasions never Samsung, I don't know why they can't work out their own phones.

It automatically saves for me. I say your phone is just very old and doesn't receive software updates

Also ensure that the file hasn't been placed in a folder
