Since Oreo update on Note 8 native Messages app does not give notification of generic incoming text messages...no sound, no badge, does vibrate though. Samsung Chat 3 times did not fix the problem. Unfortunately, the last rep lost interest in the issue and ended chat without resolution or sign-off. Frustrating experience. Any solutions? Thx.
As requested, I sent a device error log yesterday. However, the saga evolves!
Because I haven't been receiving *any* sound notifications (does vibrate) and no app badges I reluctantly abandoned the stock Messages app on my Note 8. I initially installed Textra, but the same deficiencies were occurring...no sound, no badges, but would vibrate upon receipt of a text message. I proceeded to install Android Messages by Google (meanwhile turning off notifications in the other message SMS message apps) and voila...it works! Sound & vibration notifications occur and app badges visible. Other app notifications are functional (Facebook, Instagram, etc.).
Using: Android Version 8.0.0, Samsung Experience Version 9.0, Android Security Patch Level March 1, 2018.
