After updating to One UI 7, I've noticed a significant decline in my phone's battery performance of S23 ultra. The battery now drains much faster and requires frequent charging within just 24 hours, which was never an issue before. Under One UI 6, I was extremely satisfied with the battery life—it easily lasted a full day or more. Additionally, the device has started heating up noticeably during normal usage, something that wasn't a problem with the previous version. This has considerably affected the overall user experience.

Submit an error report through Samsung Members. This generates logs and sends back to Samsung. Don't close the app until it says so.

Thanks, I already did. It's just really frustrating—what's the point of investing in a flagship phone if it starts having issues after just two years. Hope Samsung consider this issue and resolve it quickly with a proper update

Bugs happen. The more people properly report them, the quicker they get fixed. It's not an excuse, it's just reality. Thanks for reporting.

That's weird. I've had exactly the opposite experience. Battery life on my s23 improved. It was just ok before, but it improved noticably with the update.

Hi warrior07,

We're sorry to hear that you're facing battery and heating issues after updating to One UI 7 on your Galaxy S23 Ultra. We understand how important battery life and device stability are to your daily use.

Major software updates can sometimes temporarily impact battery life as the system re-indexes apps and optimizes performance in the background. This usually stabilizes within a few days. However, if the issue continues, please try the following steps:

Wipe Cache Partition (No data loss): This can help resolve post-update issues without affecting your personal data.

Turn off the phone.

Press and hold Volume Up + Power until the Samsung logo appears.

Release buttons when the Recovery Menu appears.

Use Volume Down to highlight Wipe cache partition, press Power to select.

Confirm by selecting Yes.

Once done, choose Reboot system now.

Battery & App Optimization: Go to Settings > Battery > Battery usage and check if any app is using abnormal power. Use Device care > Optimize now to improve performance. Enable Sleeping or Deep Sleeping apps under Battery > Background usage limits.

Device Temperature: Avoid using the phone while charging or in direct sunlight. Check for apps running in the background that may cause high CPU usage.

Use Diagnostics in Samsung Members: Open Samsung Members > Support > Phone diagnostics > Battery & Temperature to run a test and check for abnormalities.

If the issue persists after these steps, a factory data reset might help resolve deeper software conflicts. Please ensure your data is backed up before proceeding:

https://www.samsung.com/ca/support/mobile-devices/reset-your-samsung-galaxy/

Also, we appreciate you for sending an error report through the Samsung Members app that’s a helpful step in getting this properly investigated by our software team.

Thank you.

Mine's down 40% in an hour.
Looks like they want me to upgrade.

The latest update was such a bus that my next phone is absolutely going to be the Motorola Razr.

The fact that Samsung doesn't even make their own software anymore, is just embarrassing.
They couldn't make the software to make applications work on the cover screen of the Flip 5, so they just link to third party software.

Wait for the first One UI 7 security update, I received it on May 23rd and it really improved my S24's battery life

Whoever owns the patent for phone sized ice cubes is going to be stinking rich.  Now I just slap a chunk of ice on the back of my phone,   I made a diy version out of a store bought bag of ice,  No more overheating issues here, I can now go for a full extra 10 minutes.  Only negative is having to carry a portable cooler in my backpack to store the extra ice.  Times are good.

I’ve already tried clearing the cache partition and followed nearly every recommended workaround. Just couple of days ago, I received a software update on One ui 7 which mentioned that it was for fixing the bug — yet the problems remain. My device still overheats and the battery continues to drain at an alarming rate.
Frankly, the heating issue is unacceptable. It feels like I’m using a budget phone from 5–6 years ago, not a high-end Samsung flagship. As a loyal Samsung user, I’ve always trusted the brand, but this experience is genuinely frustrating — especially considering the premium price point.
Samsung’s response to my complaint was to suggest turning off Wi-Fi and GPS. I already keep GPS off unless I need it for navigation or weather updates. But turning off Wi-Fi? That’s just not practical. Why spend nearly $2,000 on a phone only to be told to avoid using essential features?
Even when Wi-Fi is off and I’m using mobile data, the overheating and rapid battery drain persist. This isn’t just a minor inconvenience — it’s a major flaw that undermines the entire flagship experience. I expect better from Samsung.
