I have a Galaxy S24 ultra with 1 physical SIM card (Personal) and 1 eSIM card .

I have configured a different ringtones for each SIM:

  • Physical SIM card: Ringtone = Galaxy Bells
  • eSIM card: Ringtone = Over the horizon 2024

But regardless which SIM card receives a call, I only hear the ringtone that is configured on the physical SIM (Personal). In the example of the attached screenshots, I only hear 'Galaxy Bells'.

To be clear, I do hear the other ringtone, when i select it (in the Ringtone settings), but the chosen value appears to be ignored by the phone.

I've googled my problem but did not find anyone else experiencing the same issue. So, possibly the issue only occurs on my specific setup. Perhaps it has something to do with the eSIM? IDK 😞

Tried so far:

  • Reboot phone
  • Tried several ringtones on each SIM, but in all cases, only the ringtone configured on my Personal (physical) SIM is used
  • Updated to latest official firmware

Hi sabofx,

We are sorry to hear that you're encountering an issue where the ringtone settings for your eSIM aren't being applied properly on your Galaxy S24 Ultra, even though you've set different ringtones for each SIM (physical SIM and eSIM).

You may have already checked this, but double-check that both ringtones are properly set for each SIM card.

  • Go to Settings > Sounds and vibration > Ringtone.
  • Under 'SIM 1' (for your physical SIM), make sure Galaxy Bells is selected.
  • Under 'SIM 2' (for your eSIM), make sure Over the Horizon 2024 is selected.

Ensure that you've configured the ringtones specifically for the SIM cards under this section. The SIM-specific settings sometimes behave unpredictably if you don't choose each SIM's ringtone from the correct section.

If possible, test by making a call to each SIM separately and see if the ringtone issue persists. For example:

  • Call the physical SIM and see if Galaxy Bells rings.
  • Call the eSIM and see if Over the Horizon 2024 rings.

Sometimes, issues can occur if there are network-related delays or conflicts between the physical SIM and eSIM.

Sometimes, clearing the cache for the default dialer/phone app can help resolve issues with SIM management and notifications.

  • Go to Settings > Apps.
  • Find Phone or Dialer in the list of apps and tap on it.
  • Tap on Storage, then tap Clear Cache.

There might be an app that’s interfering with the ringtone settings. Testing in Safe Mode helps rule out third-party apps.

  • To enter Safe Mode, press and hold the Power button.
  • When the Power off option appears, tap and hold it until Safe Mode appears. Select Safe Mode to reboot the phone.
  • Test the ringtone behavior in Safe Mode. If it works as expected, a third-party app might be interfering, and you would need to find and uninstall the problematic app.

There might be an issue with the eSIM configuration itself. You could try removing and re-adding the eSIM:

  • Go to Settings > Connections > SIM card manager.
  • Select the eSIM and choose Remove.
  • Then, follow the instructions to re-add the eSIM, ensuring all settings are correctly configured, including the ringtone.

If nothing works, and you want to ensure that your phone’s settings are configured correctly, a factory reset could help fix the issue. Be sure to back up your data before performing this step, as it will erase all your settings and apps.

    How else could i test?
  • Clear the cache for the default dialer/phone app
    Result: Did not help

I have not yet tried to:

  • Test the ringtone behavior in Safe Mode
  • Remove and re-add the eSIM
  • Reset phone to factory defaults

Btw, If anyone else with an S24 Ultra has a similar configuration with both a physical SIM and an eSIM, I would very much appreciate it, if you could verify that seperate ringtones per SIM works on your phone!
