Essentially the updates are non-existent here. It can't forcibly take until the last day of the month to release a (small) 300mb SECURITY UPDATE and here we are, past that and there's unnecessary delays when the very same update has been ready for weeks on the servers. Canada never gets One UI betas, even though our phones are the same as the US model but we are stuck on a W model. Im sorry but it's frustrating to consistently watch other countries with even older flagships (S24, S23) get One UI 9 while we wait around and can't even get a security update in a decent amount of time. Did we pay half price for our phones or something else i'm unaware of? Perhaps they should've merged all of north america and gave us the U model then so we can just sideload betas if providing them officially is that complicated. This year going to be my last on any samsung devices as after all this, I jave made up my mind to switch to other brands.

This is what we as Canadian consumer go through even if we are using latest models, S26 ultra. Someone in different country enjoying the latest version of One UI apparently on a three year older phone than me. How frustrating and humiliating is that.1788448651448.jpg

Completely agree with your point of view. I even used to use a US SIM card to install the betas, now even this option is not available. It is so frustrating to have an S26 Ultra and still haven't received One UI 9, and now the S23 has it in the US. Come on, Samsung, do better.

Even their watches for some odd reason suffer the same problem.

The brand new galaxy watch ultra 2 from last month has got a August security update in the US and other regions but Canada still doesn't have it

I have been using samsung devices in Canada for over 7 years and now this frustration is real. I literally don't want to use samsung devices anymore.

Hi babblu,

Thank you for reaching out to the Samsung Community, and please accept our sincere apologies for the deep frustration you have experienced regarding update timelines, regional software availability, and the delay with your recent security patch. We completely understand how disheartening it is to watch users in other regions receive software updates and beta programs ahead of time, especially when you have invested your hard-earned money into a flagship device and have remained a loyal Samsung customer in Canada for over seven years.

To provide some context regarding regional variants, hardware similarities between the North American models do not always translate to identical software deployment pipelines. Carrier-specific firmware certifications, localized regulatory compliance frameworks, and distinct carrier testing protocols required for Canadian networks mean that validation processes operate on a separate schedule. That said, this explanation does not excuse the unacceptable delays you experienced waiting for your security patch to arrive, nor does it diminish your valid desire for a more streamlined and equitable update experience.

Your feedback regarding the One UI beta availability in Canada and the overall pacing of our software releases has been formally documented and shared directly with our Canadian product management and software engineering teams. We value your loyalty over the past seven years immensely, and we deeply regret that this experience has led you to consider moving away from the Samsung ecosystem.

We have been complaining about this for years, watching other users in other countries using latest One UI updates and features before Canadian variants. Where were your Canadian product management for all these years? Tour team should have come forward and listen to the users demands and this problem should have resolved talking through carriers. If a brand like Apple can manage this Samsung should have manage to get it done as well.

As a new Samsung user (S26 Ultra) in Canada, I am beginning to read these community forum complaints and frankly I find the Samsung moderator responses simple PR and no real help. One UI 9 releasing "soon", tells us nothing. As a longtime Apple user before I always knew when new releases would be sent and in fact actively participated Apple beta program for iOS for years never once being discriminated against because I was not in a specific country graced by the manufacturer as a beta country.

The claims of carrier testing falls on deaf ears. I have actively participated in testing and reporting bugs on live Canadian cellular networks - without influence by the carrier.

Security patches and new software updates are part of the contract we have with Samsung when we purchased your product.
