Hey all, not sure if this is a widespread issue, but I noticed that whenever I use Outlook to open PDFs they sometimes...don't open with my default PDF reader.

I tried to clear cache for Outlook, tried clearing default PDF reader.. didn't work.

I noticed that most of the PDFs seem to work fine and open automatically, while some start a PDF download... just to stop and say "Download Error".

I sent the email with said PDFs to my girlfriend and she can open them fine, she has a Samsung S24 FE, I have a S23 Ultra.

Does anyone have any insight on this?
Thank you,

Also ensure it's Outlook and NOT the M365 unified app

Hi HungryDanny,

We understand that you're experiencing issues with opening certain PDFs from Outlook on your Galaxy S23 Ultra. Let's go through some troubleshooting steps to help resolve this:

Check Outlook’s Default PDF Handling: Open Outlook > Settings > Default Apps (or Attachments settings). Ensure that Outlook is set to use your preferred PDF viewer instead of its built-in viewer.

Save & Open Manually: Instead of opening the PDF directly from Outlook, try long-pressing the attachment > Save to device and then open it from Samsung My Files or your default PDF reader.

Clear Cache & Storage for Outlook: Go to Settings > Apps > Outlook > Storage Tap Clear Cache and Clear Data (this will log you out, so ensure you have your login details).

Update or Reinstall Outlook: Ensure that Outlook and your PDF reader (Samsung/Adobe/other) are fully updated via the Google Play Store. If the issue persists, try uninstalling and reinstalling Outlook.

Check Device Storage & Permissions: Ensure that Outlook has permission to access storage under Settings > Apps > Outlook > Permissions.

Also, verify that your device has enough free storage for downloads.

Try a Different Email App: Forward the same email to Gmail or Samsung Email and check if the PDF opens correctly.

If the issue continues, could you confirm if this happens with specific PDFs or all attachments? Additionally, please check if it occurs over both Wi-Fi and mobile data.
