I see a lot of people having trouble turning off the lock screen. Just to be different, on my S24 FE I can't get it to turn ON. Settings/Lock screen and AOD is all set up, Secure lock settings are set to Immediately. I swipe away all open pages, turn off screen using side button - but with a touch of the side button and a single swipe I'm back in, with no request for the PIN. I may as well hand over all my details to anyone who cares to pick up the phone. Any advice appreciated.

Hi keithclarke,

We are sorry to hear that the lock screen is not functioning as expected on your Galaxy S24 FE.

Check Lock Screen Settings: Go to Settings > Lock screen > Screen lock type. Ensure your PIN or Pattern is selected.

Under Secure lock settings, verify that Lock automatically is set to your desired time (e.g., immediately).

Check for 'Smart Lock' Features: Sometimes, features like Smart Lock (e.g., trusted devices, locations, or voice) can override the lock screen behavior.

Go to Settings > Biometrics and security > Smart Lock and check if any options are enabled that could be allowing the phone to stay unlocked.

Test with "Always On Display" (AOD): Since AOD can sometimes affect the lock screen behavior, try toggling it off temporarily to see if it makes a difference. Go to Settings > Lock screen > Always On Display and disable it.

Try restarting your phone to rule out any temporary software glitches.

After ensuring the PIN is set and lock screen settings are configured, try locking your phone and turning it back on by pressing the side button. If it still doesn't ask for a PIN, try enabling and disabling the Fingerprint Unlock or Face Recognition feature under Biometrics and security to reset any settings there.

Thank you.

Thank you. I went through all that, step by step, and the answer was right at the end. If I disable Face Recognition, lock screen functions normally. With Face Recognition on, the lock screen does not function at all. Is this a S24 FE glitch?

I am such a twit. I just realised what is happening here is that Face Recognition is doing its job - that's why I don't get a request for a PIN. A scientific experiment with my wife trying to open the phone has proved it! Thank you for your help.
