I don't know if this would qualify as a Tip - but I've found that after a Factory Reset with Oreo 8.0 on the S8+ when you Long Press on an image to Download the image it doesn't appear in your Gallery. The downloaded images are "saved" to:

Data/data.com.android.providers.downloads/cache

This seems to be a Oreo Security feature.

I've found that in order to actually save the image and have it appear in the Gallery you need to go to the Download Manager - Create a new Folder and then Move the images to the new Folder - Then the images will appear in your Gallery 🐧

If anyone has a better idea - Awesome!

Google for something - ie: swimming dog - Click on an image - Long Press on the image to Download - It's then "saved" to:

Data/data.com.android.providers/cache

And the only way that I can find to actually save the image is in my first post a647cb16-4782-4894-8316-16453cb74cf1.jpg

That's the same swimming dog I downloaded to test LOL

Is: Data/data.com.android.providers/cache on the root file system?

Yeah Data/data is only accessible using a Root Explorer if you are Rooted - Apparently the Data/data.com.android.providers/cache is available using the Download Manager

So how did you manage to get the downloaded pic? Are you rooted?

In fact anything in /data is only accessible with Root - Which is just one of the reasons why Root access is important - It's the same as if you don't have Administrator access on your computer.... Lame! ad229519-e683-4b24-a5ea-a812fbc9e6f8.jpg

@Cprice no my S8+ isn't Rooted - But I can get the pics from the Download Manager (because they don't appear in Downloads) by creating a new Folder and moving them from :

Data/data.com.android.providers/cache

To the new Folder (just name it whatever you want) which is created in:

sd/downloads

And you don't need Root for this 😉4d2f00e7-a1d7-4e80-9b58-40dc0295ce2b.jpg

The problem I'm having is that after I download the pic, I can open it in the Gallery from the notification panel, it opens in Gallery, but there's no option to save it, and after I get out of the Gallery, I can't find the pic anymore.

Open Download Manager - Top right add New - Long Press on the image - Select Move - and move the image to the new Folder and then it's now available in the gallery - I'll try to get this sequence of screen shots in the right order... 96cd63e1-153b-4c46-bc8e-da81813851fe.jpg
