Galaxy SI think that the protective coating on my S9+ has worn thru, if there is no coating then the glass might be wearing out?(is that even possible)
The screen looks ok when using it but once you put it to sleep and put some steam from your lungs on it you can clearly see where it is worn.

Galaxy SWas your device exposed to heat in a portion of the screen? That destroys the oleophobic coating.
The purpose of the coating is to make the display smoother and fingerprint resistant. Not having it shouldn't negatively effect your device, but it may slightly effect the device experience if the spot is large enough.
