I reached out to Samsung as my z fold 7 doesn't open flat. There's a slight curve when opened which is irratating for a new device. I was told to visit a Samsung store to see if this will be replaced or fixed however it should be a new device. I'm posting this so other's are aware of this issue.

I'll find out tomorrow but there has been issues with the new hinge. The customer service hasn't been great with any issues I have had.

I've heard this is due to more elasticity in the hinge and on first open after being closed it doesn't open quite flat. I find after being open for a bit it flattens out

I waited too long past the 15 days to get a replacement device. There are issues with the hinges and I was told even if they replace the hinge it may still not fold properly because it's a new device and the hinges may change over time with more repairs if this continues to be a problem with other z folds. Other Samsung store after replacing the hinge still can have prevent the fold from opening completely.

Hi zf23,

Thank you for sharing your experience with the community. The Galaxy Z Fold7 is designed to open fully flat, so a noticeable curve when opened may indicate a potential issue. Visiting a Samsung store for assessment, as advised, is the best course of action they can determine if your device requires repair.

The experience I've had with Samsung customer experience has been horrible. I was told that the hinge needs to be fixed and all I want is for it to be replaced with a new device. I was told that I have 15 days to have it replaced or return for a refund. I received my order on July 24 and I'm no longer able to do either of those things. How the agents speak to me with lack of professionalism and lack of knowledge is very infuriating. A device that is barely 30 days used can't be replaced. I don't feel like paying for a device has this issue plus the agents I deal are incompetent. I should've learned my lesson from last year. They have absolutely no wiggle room within the grace period. I have to wait 24hrs to speak with a supervisor to maybe being able to resolve this issue, however I'm not very hopeful.

Hinge got replaced however there is a gap on the phone when closed. Samsung store that did the repair told me that even after a repair it may not be %100 open or closed. With the the repair you can see the gap and the store told me it's acceptable within Samsung guidelines and there is anything to do besides looking at it and maybe doing another repair. It didn't have that issue before hand. It's a new problem after getting it fixed and even speaking with customer relations dept that the only way it can be replaced or refunded is if the store says it's not repairable. How many repairs can a phone get fixed until this gets resolved properly. hJk0V4NEQp.jpgVUvLAjhgjV.jpg

Hi everyone,

Just a quick update on my Galaxy Fold situation:

The phone originally wouldn’t open fully flat, which Samsung repaired.

After repair, it now won’t close fully and has a visible gap.

Samsung support says this is “within range” and won’t offer replacement or refund.

I’ve escalated the issue to Samsung’s executive relations team and filed a formal complaint with Ontario’s Consumer Protection Authority.

I have documented all communication, repair records, photos, and even recorded calls with Samsung reps.

If anyone else is dealing with similar issues or has advice on getting Samsung to properly resolve this, I’d appreciate hearing from you.
