eARC / Dolby Atmos connection issue - S95BA 65 OLED (2022) with HW-Q90R (2019)

Apologies if this is a known issue with a posted solution, but nothing I have read has fixed the sound issue for me, and it seems like if anything should just "work" it should be two fairly new Samsung devices. I have reduced my set up to the lowest common denominators (only the TV and Soundbar), factory reset both, registered both to SmartThings, and updated both to latest firmware as far as the devices tell me (T-PTMAKUC-1420.9IST_ENERGY) and (HW90RWWB-1012.6).  I have tested multiple HDMI cables (both HDMI 2.0 and HDMI 2.1 rated), and plugged the TV directly into my router (gigabit fibre)

I originally experienced the issue using a new 4K apple TV box plugged into HDMI 3, with the soundbar plugged into the HDMI 4 eARC port.  I removed the apple TV box from the equation, but the issue persisted using the TV's streaming apps (disney+ / netflix / apple).  (Of note,  I previously, had a 2018 Q9F QLED with the same soundbar, and was able to play ATMOS content just fine.)

Issue:

When I set up both devices, by default when the Soundbar was recognized by the TV, it sets the output to the Soundbar's HDMI input, "Sound Mode" to "Standard" but sets "HDMI eARC Mode" to "Off".  When playing a compatible Dolby Atmos show from a streaming App,  soundbar displays regular "ARC",  but that's it.  The audio sync is very poor, and the manual audio sync slider bar in the expert setting doesn't seem to help.

As soon as I set the "HDMI eARC Mode" to "Auto" in the TV's "expert sound settings" the following happens:

- "DOLBY ATMOS" immediately appears on the Sound Bar's display
- The surround sound quality is immediately upgraded and the audio/video sync is perfect with no delay.
- BUT... The sound cuts out consistently every few seconds for 2~3 seconds. Every time the sound reconnects, it displays the ATMOS label again.
- When the sounds cuts out, you can see the TV's sound setting switch from "Standard" to "Adaptive" and then back again over and over, as if the HDMI connection is being interrupted completely and then reconnected.

So far I have only found posts advising to try and update firmware, or change connection settings for an non-Samsung ATMOS compatible soundbar.

If my Soundbar is just too old and will never work (or be updated in a timely manner), that would be sad but at least I would know that's the problem... it just seems odd that the Soundbar would display eARC and ATMOS if it couldn't handle it on a 2022 Samsung TV's own streaming apps.

Thanks much for any suggestions or tips.  I could be missing something very simple, but I was getting so frustrated I had to walk away a few times.
