I have an early model side by side fridge which has been working really well for 10 years or more.  Lately the bottom of the Fridge under the vegetable drawer has constant water that ends up freezing.  I had my repair guy clean everything, then he replaced the Refrigerator evaporator panel but it has not fixed the leak problem.  Several calls to Samsung Customer Service resulted in no help at all other than giving me a discount code to buy a new fridge.  My fridge/freezer still works really well and is in excellent condition except for that leak.  Has anyone experienced a similar issue and can suggest a fix.

Hi Fridgegirl,

We sincerely apologize for the inconvenience you are experiencing with your Samsung side‑by‑side refrigerator. We understand how frustrating it can be to have water pooling and freezing under the vegetable drawer, especially when the appliance is otherwise in excellent condition. We regret that your previous interactions with our support team did not provide the resolution you were seeking. Please try with the below troubleshooting steps and check.

  1. Check the Defrost Drain

    • Water pooling at the bottom of the fridge often indicates a clogged or frozen defrost drain.

    • Locate the drain hole at the back of the refrigerator compartment and ensure it is clear of debris or ice.

    • Use warm water or a pipe cleaner to gently flush the drain.

  2. Inspect the Drain Pan

    • Verify that the drain pan beneath the fridge is properly positioned and not cracked.

    • Clean the pan to ensure water can evaporate correctly.

  3. Level the Refrigerator

    • Ensure the appliance is level front‑to‑back and side‑to‑side.

    • If tilted, water may not flow properly into the drain system.

  4. Check Door Seals

    • Damaged or loose door gaskets can allow warm air inside, causing excess condensation.

    • Clean seals with mild soap and water, and inspect for wear or gaps.

  5. Monitor Temperature Settings

    • Confirm that the refrigerator and freezer compartments are set to recommended temperatures (typically 37–40°F for fridge, 0°F for freezer).

    • Incorrect settings can lead to excess frost and water accumulation.

  6. Professional Service

    • If the issue persists after these steps, we recommend scheduling a service visit with an authorized Samsung technician to inspect the defrost system, evaporator coils, and related components.
