OthersOne of my favourite features in One UI 5.0 is how 3rd party apps can be colour themed. It fully aligns with Samsungs push to make Galaxy devices more personal and unique. Unfortunately, colour themed app icons are few and far between. Brands are too focused on ensuring their brand colour is retained in their icons, and this makes many icons stick out like a sore thumb when dynamic icons are enabled.
If possible, I would love to see an option forcing app icons to adapt to colour theming, like how the android dev settings can force app dark mode, or samsung internet forces website dark mode. This could be done by mapping icons, or even just by applying a simple colour filter.
For example the Twitter app: Mapping the icon would highlight the bright portion of the icon (the bird) and separate it from the background. The background would then become the prominent wallpaper colour, with a white or black bird (light/dark mode dependant) pasted overtop.
Most app icons follow the basic formula of having a prominent central element overtop of a basic coloured background. I'm not an app developer, but there must be a way to identify background/foreground elements to seperate them for theming.
Personally I'd love this feature. I know icon packs can be used to achieve a similar goal, but these packs need to be reapplied any time the wallpaper is changed, and the icons themselves often aren't very high quality. Android app developers often do the bare minimum when it comes to supporting Android features, so forcing this change to their icons may make them take the overall dynamic theming system more seriously.

OthersHi JohnH, we'll ensure you that it will be considered as feedback and value your time contacting us.
We certainly bring it to our team for further review.
Hopefully, the features that you're expecting might be added in a future update.
Thank you for writing to Samsung.
