Hey everyone!

I currently have a Tab S6 Lite (2020). I’m thinking about upgrading to the Tab S10 FE with the Slim Book Cover Keyboard to use for school and personal use.

Right now, I use a Lenovo IdeaPad 5 for school, it works well, but it's a bit heavy, and not my style. I like the idea of a lighter device with Samsung DeX and the S Pen!

Here’s my situation:
  • I need it mostly for schoolwork (things like Google Docs, general research, etc.).
  • I tutor math too, so I like the idea of the S Pen!
  • I am studying in the technology field and sometimes do Arduino projects, which do require using a laptop.
  • I really like the Samsung ecosystem, and DeX sounds great but I’ve never fully used it before.
Heres my Question:
Do you think the Tab S10 FE is powerful enough to fully handle school? Is Samsung DeX good enough to replace a laptop for school?

Would love to hear your honest thoughts and comments! Thanks in advance!!

Hi Kathrin1,

Thanks for laying out your situation so clearly.

The Galaxy Tab S10 FE is a solid upgrade from the Tab S6 Lite offering smoother performance, an enhanced S Pen experience, and Samsung DeX for a more PC-like workflow.

If you're looking to lighten your daily carry, love the Samsung ecosystem, and need handwriting or note-taking features, go for the Tab S10 FE it will make schoolwork, tutoring, and general use more enjoyable.

If your school workload is mostly Google Docs, research, math tutoring, and light tech work, the Tab S10 FE with DeX and S Pen can work well as your primary device most of the time. But if you're doing Arduino programming or more technical tasks, you’ll still want to keep your laptop as a backup.

Thanks so much for the thoughtful reply!

You're right, I do want something lighter and more integrated with my phone, and the Tab S10 FE seems perfect for that.

Whether I end up using it full-time for school or not, it's going to replace my Tab S6 Lite.

I'm planning to carry just the tablet during the day, and I’ll still use my Lenovo at home when I need it for Arduino stuff.

Thanks again!
