The app registered more than 9 hours of sleep, yet only counted less than 5 hours for my sleep score. This happens every day. The Health app needs to be better. Also, when you add the missing hours manually, it doesn't do anything. Why? What's the point of manually adding sleep hours, if it doesn't matter at all? It doesn't make sense.

That sounds really frustrating. The sleep score is calculated based on various sleep stages, including deep sleep, REM, and light sleep, rather than just the total duration. This could explain why your recorded sleep duration differs from the hours counted toward your score.

The sleep score should not ignore the total number of sleep hours, and then it lectures me on not having enough sleep. Again, it doesn't make sense.
