After i saw WWDC 2025 with iOS big massive overhaul and redesign, i think OneUI should do redesign in their next update of OneUI 8.

First, Samsung should think about changing how their icons looks and feels. I feel like squircle design have no place anymore in Modern Interface. It looks comical, and bring the immature concept of its modern OneUI design. Circle or square design should be materialised in the next OneUI iterations.

Second, Icon Apps' design itself should be also redesigned massively. Current iterations of icons' design looks too cartoonish and i would say "monotone", also have no continuity with the design of the OneUI 7 itself. We see how we have a redesign in Quick Setting and Notifications Panel, a more calm and mature with the UX inside Samsung apps, from Settings to Phone to Wallet. But, (it is super subjective and everyone's thoughts gonna be different) it's not well represented with the icon apps' design itself. Some of apps need more works (Gallery, Settings, Contacts app).

Learn from iOS26 update (definitely not the Apple Intelligence) we can see that the way UI/OS looks is also important. After we see "unsuccessful" rollout of OneUI 7, we expect that the next OneUI 8 will be somewhat just the fix of what should be in OneUI 7.

The next OneUI 9 has to have a newer look because even though every OneUI update gave us tiny details update, it's been almost 8 years we see OneUI without massive redesign and to be frank, it becomes a bit boring.

What you think guys?

so someone here made a little research, Samsung loved to overhaul their UI around 6 years. So the first overhaul was TouchWiz 7 to Samsung Experience 8, it also took 6 years. Until then One UI 1.0 come two years later after Samsung Experience 8. Now there's 6 years gap between One UI 1.0 to 6.1, One UI 7.0 is the overhaul UI you asked for.

So next overhaul UI suppose to be One UI 13.0 unless if Samsung come up with another different name UI after One UI

slightly disagree with OneUI 7 as part of Samsung design overhaul, but i see what you mean. I think when it comes to changes within OneUI 7, there's changes here and there, but the way we perceive the UI, more or less still the same.

the big reasons why OneUI hasnt changed for a while i think because how mature the UI looks and feels. But, i still reckon that Samsung can and should do domething massive for the next OneUI iteration.

thank you for the feedback.

Something more important on this century is about security. I think ios is more safety because it's on their system. Samsung folder safe is good but i think it's a kind there much thing we should prepare and complicated.
