TabletsHi All, I gave my housemate my Samsung A7 tablet when I upgraded to a new one and being elderly he has forgotten his password. Is there a way to reset it back to factory without using the password. He really needs it to be in contact with family (grandchildren mainly) online as he has a very elderly phone that doesn't support video calls. I really want to help him with this, but when Google searching there are a few different ways to do it, but so far none have worked. It's charged and on at the moment too, but unable to turn it off without password. I'm about ready to start pulling my hair out now 🤣

TabletsHi @Cosmicwolf4,
Most Android devices are protected by Google's Factory Reset Protection (FRP) feature. If your device has been reset using buttons, you will be asked to enter your Google password before you are allowed access back into the device.
This feature has been designed as a safeguard to prevent unwanted people from using your device if they managed to reset it without your permission (e.g. if the device was lost or stolen).
If you want to remove FRP you will need to follow the instructions in the link below to remove your Google account from your device before resetting.
https://www.samsung.com/uk/support/mobile-devices/how-do-i-perform-factory-reset-on-my-mobile-device...
If you need to remove FRP but you are locked out of your device, you can bring your device, along with proof of purchase, to an authorised Samsung Service Centre and our technicians will be able to assist in doing that.
Please see below for information on our Authorised Service Centres:

Please feel free to reach out if you are in need of further help!
Warm regards,
s_amsungsonny
