I just updated the tablet this morning on my Samsung S9 Fe when it asked.
My apps are now opening in a kind of "desktop" way.
Is there a way to go back to just opening them normally? I can't find anything in the settings.
Thank you to anyone that can help. As this is my first post, I'm not even sure if I'm in the right category

Hi Sammy72,

Your Samsung Galaxy Tab S9 FE likely switched into Samsung DeX mode after the update. This mode makes apps open in a desktop-style window. To return to normal tablet view, you can disable DeX from the quick settings panel or device settings.

  • The recent One UI update introduced or enabled Samsung DeX by default on some Galaxy tablets.

  • DeX is designed to give a PC-like interface, where apps open in resizable windows instead of full-screen.

  • Please try with the below steps to Switch Back to Normal Tablet Mode
  1. Quick Settings Method

    • Swipe down from the top of the screen to open the Quick Settings panel.

    • Look for the DeX icon (it may say “Samsung DeX” or show a desktop-like symbol).

    • Tap it to turn off DeX. Your apps should now open in the standard tablet view.

  2. Settings Method

    • Go to Settings > Advanced features > Samsung DeX.

    • Toggle Off to disable desktop-style mode.

  3. Restart if Needed

    • After disabling DeX, restart the tablet to ensure apps return to normal full-screen behavior.

  • If you prefer the desktop-style interface, you can always re-enable DeX later.

  • Some updates may reset preferences, so check after future updates if the mode reactivates.

  • If the option does not appear in Quick Settings, ensure your tablet is updated to the latest firmware and check under Advanced features.
