Feature Request: Temporary Photo Mode for Samsung Camera

Dear Samsung Development Team,

I would like to suggest a new feature for the Samsung Camera app that I believe would enhance productivity and improve photo management for users. The idea is to introduce a “Temporary Photo Mode”, accessible directly within the camera interface, without the need to navigate through multiple settings.

Feature Overview:

Quick-Access Toggle:

A small toggle button placed conveniently beside the shutter button (or within easy reach on the main camera interface).

This toggle, once activated, would enable users to designate certain photos as temporary.

The toggle remains active until manually turned off, streamlining the process for users who frequently take disposable photos.

Customizable Time Limits:

Similar to Night Mode on the camera, where users can select exposure times (like 3 seconds, 6 seconds, or maximum), the Temporary Photo Mode would offer flexible time frames.

Users can easily select how long their photos remain on the device—for example, 1 hour, 8 hours, 1 day, or 1 week. After the selected time period, the photos are automatically deleted. This keeps the interface simple and ensures quick switching between temporary and permanent photo modes without digging through settings.

Use Case Examples:

1. Work-Related Photos:
As someone who works for a telecommunications company, I frequently take photos of wire installations, entry points, and mounting setups. These photos are essential in the moment but lose relevance shortly after completion. Manually deleting them at the end of the day is time-consuming, especially on busy days.

While taking these work-related photos, something unexpected can easily come up—like spotting a beautiful sunset or an interesting vehicle parked nearby. In such moments, it’s crucial to quickly toggle off the temporary mode and capture a photo I want to keep. After capturing that shot, I need to smoothly switch back to temporary mode and continue working without disruption. Having this feature directly on the main camera interface ensures these transitions are seamless, maximizing efficiency.

2. Casual or Disposable Photos:
Often, I take a photo of something interesting, like a customer’s dog, just to share it in a group chat. I don’t intend to keep these photos long-term, but they still clutter my phone, requiring me to delete them and empty the trash manually later.

Why This Feature Matters:

Enhanced Efficiency:

Reduces the time spent managing photos, particularly for professionals who take dozens of photos daily.

Better Storage Management:

Prevents photo clutter from accumulating and saves storage space effortlessly.

User-Friendly:

Works similarly to "night mode" or screenshot auto-delete after sharing, ensuring the feature is intuitive and easy to access.

This feature would offer significant value to users by simplifying photo management and aligning with the needs of both professional and casual users. I hope the Samsung development team will consider implementing it in future updates.

Thank you for your time and consideration.

Sincerely,
Peter J. Reynolds
