So o have this permanent message " Can't write to SD card, your SD card isn't working correctly and has been set to read-only to prevent data loss. Backing up the data on ypur SD card is recommended"

I've found identical posts on the US site without any fix offered, many seem to have encountered this problem after firmware update. I've formated the card, I've run diagnostics on the card, everything checks out ok. I had this card on my S9 for near 2 years, also I don't see any problems using it on any of my PCs or laptops. One gentleman on the US site went as far as purchasing several new top brand cards with still the same issues.   I didn't see Samsung offering any suggestions or even a post of concern over this matter.      Anyone else having these issues?

Thank you

Hi MadThumper,
As you are facing the SD card issue after a firmware update on your phone, I suggest you to perform the wipe cache partition of the device and check if the SD card works properly.
If the device is not working correctly, you may need to master reset it and also clear the cache partition. These two resets clear different parts of the device storage. Unlike a master reset, wiping the cache partition does not delete your personal data.
1. Turn off the device.
2. Press and hold the Volume Up key and the Bixby / Power key.
3. When the Android logo displays, release both keys.
4. An 'Installing system update' message may show briefly before the Android Recovery menu options appear.
5. Press the Volume down key several times to highlight Wipe cache partition.
6. Press Bixby / Power key to select.
7. Press the Volume down key to highlight Yes, then press the Bixby / Power key to select.
8. When the process is complete, the Reboot system now is highlighted.
9. Press the Bixby / Power key to restart the device.

I've never had any problems with the Lexar 128 Gig in my S20 Ultra 5G and it's also a couple of years old.

Before doing a Factory Reset, I'd copy everything on the sd card to your computer, format the sd card again in your computer, insert it into your phone and test it again. I can't remeber if there is an option to format the sd card in your phone, but if there is, I'd try that too.

I'm pretty sure that it's not a known issue for the S20 series, at least the dozen or so people who I know with the same phone haven't had any trouble with sd cards.  It's important to know that sd cards can fail, and just because it works in your computer doesn't necessarily mean that the card is fine, I think that computers may not always show if there is an issue.
