Hi there, my friend has gave me her phone to hopefully get working again.

She said it had an update through the night and when she woke up this morning the touch screen is completely unreresponsive.

I've tried holding power and down volume keys to reset.

Any ideas?

It's a Samsung A13

Thank you in advance

Hi Wardl895,

Sorry to hear this issue from you. Since you've already tried holding the Power and Volume Down buttons to reset, try this again but hold the buttons for a longer time (about 20-30 seconds) until the device fully powers off and reboots.

If the device still doesn't respond, try booting into Safe Mode. Safe Mode disables third-party apps and can help determine if an app is causing the issue. How to boot into Safe Mode: Hold the Power button until the power menu appears. Long-press the Power Off option until you see the option to boot into Safe Mode. Tap Safe Mode and wait for the device to restart. If the touch screen works in Safe Mode, it means a third-party app might be the cause.

Boot into Recovery Mode: If Safe Mode doesn’t help, try booting into Recovery Mode to wipe the cache partition. This won’t delete any personal data but can resolve software glitches.

Hold the Power button and Volume Down to open the power options where choose the Power off. When the screen goes dark press the Volume Up and Power keys together. Let go of all held buttons when you see the Recovery mode on the screen. Then you should select Wipe cache partition. Use Volume Up to navigate and the Power button to accept it. Choose Yes and press the Power key to confirm that operation. 6. After that select Reboot system now with the Power key."

If none of the above steps work, you may need to perform a Factory Reset. This will erase all data on the device, so please make sure to back up important files.

If you can't see the screen, you can't factory reset with the instructions given

Recovery Menu may still display the screen. You don't know if you don't try.

It seems like your friend's phone became unresponsive after a software update. The screen isn't reacting to touch, and you've already tried resetting it by holding the power and volume down buttons without success. Here’s a question you could use to seek help:

"My friend’s phone stopped responding to touch after an overnight update. I’ve tried resetting it using the power and volume down buttons, but the screen is still unresponsive. Any ideas on how to fix this issue?

The OP's posted question was just fine. No need to ask in a different way.

Your friend's Samsung Galaxy A13 touchscreen became unresponsive after an overnight update. You’ve tried a basic restart with no success. To troubleshoot, you can:

  1. Force Restart by holding the Power and Volume Down buttons for 20-30 seconds.
  2. Boot into Safe Mode to rule out any third-party apps.
  3. Wipe the Cache Partition in Recovery Mode to clear any corrupted system files.
  4. As a last resort, perform a Factory Reset.

If the problem persists, consider visiting a Samsung service center for further diagnosis.
