I have accidental touch  protection  located under settings, display, enabled on my A50.

I covered both front and rear camera with with opaque tape to prevent it from detecting light and when the screen turns off and I touch the screen it still responds to touch. This should not occur.

Accidental touch protection is suppose to prevent accidental touch in a dark location like a pocket, but this feature
Doesn't work.

Hi @SamSungtwo,

Accidental touch protection sets the device to prevent the screen from detecting touch input when it is in a dark place, such as a pocket or bag. Since it detects light and if the place is dark it works. In your case, you can cover the light sensor and check it must work.

Samsung A50 .pngyou can check the location of light and proximity sensor in the attached picture.

Thanks for the light sensor location. However I tried covering the sensor so no light enters and if I touch the finger print sensor area it still responds to multiple touches.

The issue I have is when I put the phone in my pocket I can feel it vibrate it response to screen touches. When I take it out of my pocket the screen says too many attempts.

Hi SamSungtwo,

Please try to wipe the cache partition of your device and get back to us with the result.

Follow the below steps:

Switch off the phone using the power key >> Press and hold Volume up and power key at the same time until Samsung logo appears >> Release the keys once you see the Samsung Logo >> Press the Volume up button to get into the recovery mode >> In recovery mode, use the Volume keys to navigate between options >> Select “Wipe Cache Partition” >> Select “Yes” >> Reboot the device once the wipe cache partition process is complete. I hope it will solve your issue.
(Note: Wiping the cache will NOT delete your apps or your data or your configuration).

If it didn't fix the issue please use the link to generate the error report from the Samsung Members app so that our team can review the Log Files and will get back to you.

In step 5, please select the "Application" category.
In step 6, Please check "send the system log data".

Why do you think this procedure will work on a Samsung setting? This setting is one of many types of settings

It seems the feature works but not consistently. it seems to work 4 out of 10. but when it works is says something like excessive keyboard touch has been blocked.

I am not sure why it doesn't work all five time. When I finish using the phone I lock it by pressing the button then put it in my pocket.

I've switched this off because it's a very disfunctional piece of software. When it's on, sometimes it will lock you out your phone because it'll ask to swipe to unlock but it doesn't work. I then switched it off but now I'm pocket dialing emergency services twice a day so I need to remove the emergency services number from my phone.
