I just got a Galaxy A54. When I join a discord call, the audio for other media like games becomes distorted, it makes it sound like a tazer is coming through the speaker.

This only happens when I'm on a call with someone. I tried to wipe the cache partition but I can't get into bootloader mode as I don't have access to a PC.

Is the distortion only happening with Discord + games?

You can try Uninstalling & Reinstalling Discord. Not sure if it's only happening with Discord open.. doesn't seem to be a hardware issue, but you could check speaker with the Samsung Members app & Phone Diagnostics for the Speaker.

It also happened on the hyperbeam website (A group video streaming service with voicechat functionality). I factory resetted the phone, clean slate with no backup, to no avail. I'll try the phone diagnostics thing, thank you.

Audio crackling during Discord calls can stem from various sources. Here are some steps to troubleshoot and potentially resolve the issue:

### Basic Checks:
1. **Check Your Internet Connection:** Unstable or slow internet can cause audio issues. Try switching to a wired connection if you're using Wi-Fi.
2. **Restart Discord:** Sometimes, restarting the Discord app can resolve temporary glitches.

### System Settings:
1. **Update Audio Drivers:** Ensure your sound card drivers are up to date. Visit the manufacturer's website to download the latest drivers.
2. **Adjust Discord Settings:** In Discord, go to User Settings > Voice & Video. Experiment with different settings like changing the input/output devices, disabling "Quality of Service High Packet Priority," or enabling "Legacy Audio Subsystem."
3. **Check Audio Settings:** Ensure your sample rate and bit depth in Windows audio settings match those of your audio device.

### Hardware Checks:
1. **Check Headphones/Speakers:** Faulty or old headphones/speakers might cause crackling. Try using different audio output devices to isolate the issue.
2. **USB Ports:** If using USB headphones, try different USB ports. A malfunctioning port can cause audio issues.
3. **Check Cables:** For wired headphones, inspect the cables for any damage or loose connections.

### Other Considerations:
1. **Background Apps:** Close unnecessary background apps consuming system resources that might interfere with audio processing.
2. **Disable Exclusive Mode:** In Windows audio settings, disable exclusive mode for your playback and recording devices.

### Advanced Solutions:
1. **Update OS:** Ensure your operating system is updated to the latest version.
2. **Disable Enhancements:** In Windows audio settings, disable audio enhancements for your playback device.

If the issue persists after trying these steps, it might be a more complex issue related to Discord's servers or your network environment. Contacting Discord support for further assistance or checking their status page for any reported issues could provide additional insights.

Always approach troubleshooting cautiously, making one change at a time to identify the cause of the issue. https://honista.info/
