Draft text message disappeared

I am confounded. I've been keeping vital notes for myself by using the Samsung text message app. For two years it has been a reliable way to keep and update notes. Today that draft has disappeared. I checked trash (deletion set to trash for 30 days). Not there. So I tried restore from backup (text messages only). No luck. Help please.

Switch to Google Messages (Samsung's Moderators have also recommended that you switch to Google Messages). 

Rather than keeping notes as a draft, just send the text to yourself. This would pretty much guarantee that you won't lose it.

Hi, yes as said by RedDogRabbit please use Google Messages instead of preloaded Samsung MessagesApp.

Download from Google Play store: Google Messages and set as default. Then see if it will fix the issue.

Is there a way to Uninstaller the redundant Samsung messaging. I'm guessing Not.
