I purchased the galaxy A16 5G in August of this year and my data keeps randomly dropping where it won't connect and the only way to fix it is by restarting the phone and it only fixes it temporarily and then the issue comes back. I've even tried airplane mode trick which was also a temporary fix. The problem was occurring with Android 15 and also fold when I upgraded to Android 16. I have done research online and found on the Samsung forums in the United Kingdom that this issue is quite prevalent with the device over there so I'm guessing other users are having it in North America as well. I have ruled out it being a carrier issue as I have another phone in the same location that never does it. Any ideas on what could be going on.

What is the model number of your device, ie: SM-xxxxx?

Did you try Resetting the Network Settings?

You could try popping the SIM card out & back in. See if that makes a difference? You might want to contact your Carrier and get a new SIM.. It's always possible for a SIM to have it's own issues.

You should also run the Diagnostics for the device, see if you get any error messages?

Hi cjmartel1976,

It is unusual to hear that you are experiencing mobile data connectivity issues on your Galaxy A16 5G, please follow the steps below to help resolve the problem:

  1. Check Mobile Data Settings

    • Go to Settings > Connections > Mobile Networks.

    • Ensure Mobile Data is turned on.

    • Verify that Network Mode is set to 5G/4G/3G/2G (Auto Connect).

  2. Restart Your Device

    • A simple restart can often resolve temporary network glitches.

  3. Check SIM Card

    • Remove and reinsert your SIM card to ensure proper placement.

    • Try using the SIM in another device to rule out SIM-related issues.

  4. Reset Network Settings

    • Go to Settings > General Management > Reset > Reset Network Settings.

    • This will reset Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and mobile data settings.

  5. Check for Software Updates

    • Go to Settings > Software Update > Download and Install.

    • Ensure your device is running the latest software version.

  6. Verify APN Settings

    • Go to Settings > Connections > Mobile Networks > Access Point Names (APN).

    • Confirm that the APN settings match those provided by your carrier.

  7. Test in Safe Mode

    • Boot into Safe Mode to check if third-party apps are interfering.

    • Press and hold the power button > Tap and hold "Power off" > Select Safe Mode.

If the issue persists after performing these steps, we recommend visiting the nearest Samsung service center. Our service technicians will examine the device and provide the necessary support.
