On my a50 there is a option for auto scan for malware. Where is the update information for the "auto scan for malware" found ? I would like to know if it is continually updating malware signatures.

Hi SamSungtwo,

The auto malware scan feature on your Galaxy A50 uses Samsung’s built‑in security powered by McAfee, and its malware signatures are updated automatically through system and security updates. You won’t see a separate changelog for the malware database itself, but keeping your phone’s software and security patches up to date ensures the scan engine stays current.

Recommendations steps:

  • Keep Auto Update enabled for both system software and apps.
  • Regularly check for monthly security patches (these often include malware signature updates).
  • If you want confirmation of the latest patch, you can view the Security Patch Level under Settings → About Phone → Software Information.

Our goal is always to provide the best possible experience for our customers, and community input like yours helps us evaluate where improvements can be made.

Thank you for reaching out and sharing your concern.

Kindly follow the below steps to find out the last update details,

  • Go to Settings > Battery and device care > Device protection and ensure Auto scan for malware is enabled.
  • Go to Settings > Software update > Download and install to check for the latest update.
  • Restart your device and recheck the Device protection settings.

That doesn't tell me if the malware by McAfee is being updated. I am looking for a install date for the malware signatures
