Galaxy AHi tinkerdstinker,
Random voice assistant activation is often caused by a voice-activated setting, a sensitive button, or a software glitch. You can fix the issue by adjusting your assistant settings, clearing the app's data, or addressing a hardware problem.
- Turn off "Hey Google" voice activation: The assistant can sometimes misinterpret other sounds as the "Hey Google" wake command.
- Open the Google app, tap your profile icon, and go to Settings > Google Assistant.
- Select Hey Google & Voice Match and turn off the toggle next to Hey Google.
- Disable the dedicated button:
- Launch Google Assistant by pressing the button, then tap the settings icon.
- Go to General and disable the Assistant button.
- Adjust default assistant settings: If the assistant still activates, you can remove it as the default helper app.
- Navigate to Settings > Apps > Default Apps.
- Tap on Digital Assistant App and select None.
- Clear the Google app cache: Corrupted cache files can lead to software malfunctions and accidental activations.
- Go to Settings > Apps > Google App > Storage & Cache.
- Tap Clear cache and restart your phone.
Other potential causes and fixes
- A software bug from an update: If the issue started after a recent system or app update, try restarting your device to clear any temporary glitches.
