Not sure if this is the right place to post but I'm wondering if there is a way to review the Messages app, and request some features.

The new messages is cool and all with the categories but I miss my pixel with Google Messages' ability to Archive messages as opposed to deleting them all together.

Seems silly but I have lost alot of friends and family and keeping their messages is important to me, however I also have issues with my eyesight and the ability to customize the theme on the Samsung and having it also effect the messaging app.

Just a thought, maybe we can get them to add this feature as it would just be a hidden category and remove the need for the ALL category or can shorten it for messages you would like to keep but not see all the time
(How many times have you wished you didn't delete that conversation with your boss/team members from months ago with the company info?)

Starting with Android 10, the stock Messages app supports a Category option. You may be able to set your conversations in those new categories. It's not a proper Archive feature but that should work in the meantime

Is that feature on UI 2.1? My phone upgraded to Android 10 recently and I don't see that option.

You can always (as an alternative) back up your messages using Smart Switch or better yet, you can download SMS back up and restore, the one by SyncTech. If im not mistaken, it allows you to choose which induvidual messages you want to back up in advanced options. Not exactly what you're asking for but hopefully they add the archive option in Samsung messages.

why don't you get a SMS back up app if you want to keep your messages? this way you can dump them on a pc or whatever you like to do with them :)

No it's not a OneUI 2.1 exclusive feature. My Note9's still on 2.0

Hey@ krakenpowers,

As suggested by@CHMultimedia and GG2, you can able to set your conversations in categories. However you can back up your messages using Smart Switch in a computer so that you can download back up SMS and restore on your phone.
Please follw the steps from below link to back up your data on a PC.
