it's the carriers that bundle the software because they know it uses a lot of data so you're more likely to go over your data cap

You could always get the Exynos variant - Unlocked Bootloader and then you can use Root privileges to uninstall the System apps that you don't want (seems like a lot of trouble considering the downsides) With a Rooted International variant - You won't have VoLTE - WiFi Calling - or Warranty - Is it really worth it to just permanently uninstall fb (I hate it too but) - There's too many tradeoffs if you ask me 🐧

I'm of the opinion that if Samsung or any other manufacturer insists on locking the bootloader, that it should be LAW that the bootloader MUST be unlockable once updates (read: security patches etc) are stopped and the phone abandoned. I sort of understand why bootloaders are locked (that doesn't mean I like it or agree with it), but to leave a device crippled once there are no more updates is a travesty IMO.

Extremely valid point on devices that are no longer receiving official support!
Regarding Locked Bootloaders generally - It's offensive for the Carriers to have demanded that Samsung locks the bootloader - In Europe & many other regions consumer rights are far more robust!

agreed, that's what killed boxee box. that little thing paved the way for set top Kodi boxes...then Samsung snatched it up and they just killed it off, locked for ever
