Background: If, like me, you use your phone to check emails and stay on top of things but use your PC to organize them and delete from your mail server, this may help. This is my solution for a POP account I have.
Problem: I was having issue setting up my Note 8 so that when I delete an email from my mail server, it removes itself from my phone. I already know that if I delete it from my phone, it will be deleted from the server. Deleting from phone is a bit of a hassle though as I first have to select then delete form my Inbox then go to my Recycle Bin and do it all over again. A lot of unnecessary steps, if you ask me. I was further frustrated because the Note 4 I just retired does exactly what I want.
Solution: If you set up your account as a POP account on your Note 8 you will have the same problem. The trick is to set up your account on your phone as IMAP. TADA!! Problem solved. Once I deleted the account and set it back up again as IMAP on the phone, no issue.
