On Telus and no July security patch yet. Battery drain on mine was caused by aggressive push notifications from FB. Once I've disabled it and set up optimized power saving mode battery life had been close to Nougat. Still getting 6-7 hours SoT.

In my case, FB's aggressive push notifications hit my battery hard. Prior to other updates, I didn't have FB notifications. Post updates and FB was giving notifications constantly. So that odd behavior triggered my suspicions about it draining my battery. It was a heavy hit and it never showed up as draining the battery (I never launched the app and dismissed all notifications). It seems I was correct in my assessment as my battery returned to 'normal' after disabling it.
Have you tried wiping the cache partition from Recovery? There could be old residual files that may be causing this also. If you still experience heavy drain after that, try booting into safe mode and see if the drain is still persistent. If there's no drain in safe mode, it's a third party app causing the drain. And it's difficult to say which app it could be.
There are also 3rd party battery monitor apps that may be able to help give more detailed info and pinpoint what app might be causing the issue.

If I'm understanding your statement correctly, you don't experience power drain from when you did the above. So I can only surmise that there's an app hidden in the background that is keeping the device awake and not letting it deep sleep. Unfortunately, narrowing what app that can be is a pain as you would need to uninstall, test and reinstall. Slow process but only way to figure what is causing it.
