This just started today. Suddenly I'm getting notification sounds (the default sound effect) for app notifications that I have set to silent. I've also tried turning them to 'Alert' and then setting the sound effect to silent. Either way I set it, the default notification sounds just keep on playing! (and very loudly, I may add...but that's a whole other issue with this phone! Why are the notification sounds SO LOUD even on their lowest volume setting!?).
Hi, could you please help us with the model number of the device and we suggest you to perform Wipe cache on your device.
This will not erase personal data on the phone. It deletes temporary cache files in the phone.
1) Turn off the device.
2) Press and hold the Volume Up key and the Power Key.
3) When the Android logo displays, release all keys.("Installing system update" is displayed before displaying the Android system recovery menu options).
4) Press the Volume down key several times to highlight “wipe cache partition.”
5) Press the Power key to select.
6) Press the Volume down key to highlight “yes” and press the Power key to select.
7) When the wipe cache partition is complete, “Reboot system now” is highlighted.
Unfortunately the cache wipe did not correct the problem. The phone is a SM-N976U. The notifications on this thing have been wonky since day one (with them being WAY too loud regardless of the notification volume setting) but this takes it to a whole new level of annoying. Regardless of what I set the notification sound as--and regardless of whether I set it to "on" or "off" it's playing the default notification sound effect. Like the phone is completely ignoring my settings.
