I've noticed recently that blacks are totally washed out playing HDR content both on YouTube, Plex and VLC. Basically HDR doesn't use pure OLED black, but more of a dark grey instead. Has it always been like that? Is it a bug or a way to avoid black crush?

Galaxy NoteHey @vinceb,
Which device is this, and is this for all HDR content on all platforms?
Cheers,
Jeremy

Note 8. In plex the whole display turns into 'HDR mode', where my black notification shade and the bars on the edges of the screen will turn 'grey' just like the blacks in the content I'm watching. In YouTube only the part of the screen when video is displayed acts that way.
