Galaxy SNot sure what you mean by "alternate calendar", but you can go to Settings > Lock Screen > Always On Display > Clock Style and choose the Calendar.

Galaxy SHad a look, but no idea how to add this to the LockScreen.
Best guess would be to find a Calendar app, which has a Widget that you might be able to add to the LockScreen?

Galaxy SOne UI V2.5 is a lifetime ago.. I don't think that Widgets use any battery, at least none that I have seen. 🤔
You may not have any other choice, but to use a 3rd party widget..
