Always On Display isn't working properly

Whenever I leave my phone alone the AOD always ends up turning off a few minutes after and so I can not see the time anymore. This hasn't happened before and so it is very frustrating that it's happening now. If anyone knows how I can fix this issue please help! Thank you.

Do you happen to put it screen down?
When I put mine screen down it turns off but as soon as I flip it over to check the time it comes back on.
