Warning to anyone considering travelling with their Canadian model Samsung phone in Europe.

Unlike iPhone or Pixel, Samsung purposely locks out LTE and 5G band 28 on their Canadian model Samsung phones. Without this band, you will likely have NO cellular service indoors when in Europe/Australia, even if you use a European or Australian SIM card.

Samsung: Your Canadian model phones such as the S22, 23, 24 and 25 series phones, as well as the Z Flip and Fold series phones are capable of supporting band 28. Please unlock this band immediately. No excuses. Thank you.

Yes, I've tried using it in the UK/Europe. It works alright outdoors and is passable in some indoor settings, above ground. It does not work in basements/bars, nor at the back of supermarkets and other large, windowless buildings almost without exception. It also does not support Carrier Aggregation (CA) in Europe, unlike iPhone. Allowed bands and carrier aggregation are software-enabled, per your own screenshots, which also confirm that band 28 is unsupported on Canadian CSCs/software. Btw, both the allowed bands and CA are controlled by the Cap PRUNE file, which requires root access to modify. It's moronic of Samsung to do this to customers. Why, Samsung? What could you possibly gain from these restrictions? I travel a lot for work so I am giving up and ordering an iPhone :(

I just read it but I am not sure what point this is supposed to be making. It doesn't disagree with any of my points.

Op asked for help on why it doesn't work. This, on the other hand, is you persistently being annoying. Please, if you aren't of any help, go away.

And what, precisely have you contributed... I'm sure that there's a tree somewhere, whose sole purpose is to produce the oxygen you waste. Go find it and apologize.

Oh I'm sorry for hurting your feelings random stranger. Like why are you so mad and determined to prove them wrong? Like if they're wrong, they're wrong. No need to bother them. If they have a problem, they have a problem. Just saying "Oh, but this source says otherwise" does not resolve the problem, at all. I've had this happen too. I had to root my old phone, as in the country I was staying didnt allow for the use of some bands.

If you Rooted your old phone, and it was a Samsung, it was either an International variant, or it was a Galaxy S7 or earlier in Canada.

I know that there was a Dev, Elliwigy, who had a method to unlock the Bootloaders on some older, ie: S9, S10 series devices.. but Locked Bootloaders make Root virtually impossible... Go find that tree...
