I'm currently BETA testing Thunderbird on Android and can not find a way to change my default (Samsung) email client to Thunderbird.
Samsung's email client does not appear in the Default apps list.

Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

Enable sync for Thunderbird & disable the Sync for Samsung email.

I couldn't disable sync but I changed turned sync to manual on Samsung Email and problem solved. Samsung needs to make switching to alternative apps easier.

What device do you have?

Samsung email isn't even installed on any of my Samsung devices, including my S23 Ultra.

If I would have been awake, I would have just said "Uninstall Samsung email".

Depending on the email service you're using probably you needed o approve new sync via MFA for it to work.

The problem was with Gmail. Once I turned off Gmail as the default Thunderbird worked fine. I'm BETA testing Thunderbird and don't want to delete Samsung Email until Thunderbird for Android is ready for prime time. Thanks for the help!🙏

I had thunderbird working for 2 months earlier. Not sure what you're doing wrong.

Hi iamliving,

We are glad to see that you figured out that Gmail was the issue! It makes sense that disabling Gmail as the default app allowed Thunderbird to work smoothly.

Since you're beta testing Thunderbird and want to keep Samsung Email as a backup, not deleting it is a good idea, in case you encounter any bugs or issues during testing.

Thank you.
