Hoping I can get some help here. I'm working on a renovation project and took many pictures, which just went into the general photo album on my Samsung S24. I created a new album for those photos alone. I selected the photos, selected "Move to Album", chose the album. But they only copied the photos, I still have them in the main album. When I started to delete the ones in the main album, I discovered they were being deleted from the dedicated album as well. What gives? Doesn't "move" mean take out of one place and put in another? And shouldn't they be separate?

Hi Kovarr,

When you use the "Move to album" option, it generally creates a reference to the photo in the new album rather than removing the original photo from the main album. This means deleting a photo from any album will delete it from all albums, as the photo is not physically duplicated but rather referenced in multiple places.

If you want to keep the photos in the dedicated album without deleting them from the main album, you should use the "Copy to album" option instead of "Move to album". This will create a duplicate of the photos in the new album while keeping the originals in the main album.

Thank you.

This needs to be fully clear in Tips app or the about menu.

Yes, but I don't want them in the main album. I want to clean up my space used, but if I can't remove a photo from main and put it in another album, this defeats the purpose. If making albums just ends up making copies of the photo, therefore using more space, what's the point of albums?

I feel you we here on this 👀🎤🤙🏿

I think keeping in a custom OneDrive folder you can set which folders 5o sync or not within Gallery cloud settings.

Alias' should never be used in personal media. Never!!

Causes issues in locating the original content, sharing and synchronization with 3rd party cloud providers!!

Now it makes sense why I have 15 of thr same photo of my sons 1st steps playing MGS!

I'm having the same problem! What's the point of having MOVE if it's coping/duplicating and using more space ???😡

Was using iPhone for 2 years and the moving feature was something that I missed from my Samsung. Now back to Samsung and it's not working anymore 😩
