Can you please remove this silly and artificial limitation with Samsung DeX?

Using my original Samsung DeX Station with my S10+, I can display more than 5 apps on screen at once.

Using my (technically superior) Hewlett P. Elite X3 Desk Dock, I get the "no more than 5 apps" message.

Stop artificially limiting this function, especially since Samsung doesn't even sell a first-party desk dock any longer. Absolutely infuriating that Samsung is gimping DeX like this unless you use a Samsung dock/cable (or some random 3rd party options which seem to have skirted this limitation somehow).

There is absolutley no reason why my X3 dock cannot support more than 5 apps on screen the same as the DeX Station allows.

Thank you.

Thank you. I just did. I think Samsung is busy with GOS issue which I guess has something in common with 5 app limitation issue. They failed to handle the heat and decided not to give users choices.

Samsung devs, can we have a proper response? It's August 2021 now.

Seriously! Almost a year later and the situation has gotten worse, not better, as Samsung continues to artificially restrict out resolution and the number of active apps.

Hello everyone!!! I have great news for you. I found a setting that you can open more than 5 apps! I'm not sure when it was added but follow these steps.

1. Get "Good Lock" app from Galaxy Store and open it.

2. Download "MultiStar" app in the app and open it.

3. Choose "I ❤️ Samsung Dex"

4. You can enable "Run many apps at same time"

I tested it and it works with my random USB connector (no genuine Dex accessory)! Enjoy!

Thanks jaeyeom. This works, but you will need to be using Android 12 / One UI 4.0 and be in a region where Good Lock is supported.

Still, it's better than nothing, but this functionality should be simply built in to DeX without needing Good Lock. Motorola has no such restrictions with its Ready For desktop mode.
